Founded fifty years ago and directed by Joël Suhubiette for the last twenty years, the Ensemble Jacques Moderne - composed of a vocal and instrumental ensemble and enriched by musicological research - performs two centuries of ancient European music, from Renaissance polyphony to Baroque vocal music.

Joël Suhubiette has imagined a program adapted to outdoor concerts in squares, markets, guinguettes, museum courtyards... He has chosen a joyful, festive, buffoonish but also poetic repertoire, suitable for all audiences.

Four singers of the Ensemble Jacques Moderne, accompanied by the lute, invite you to celebrate the gardens through the songs of the Renaissance. They praise nature, flowers, trees and birds, but also aromatic plants, vegetables and vines, which will delight our tables.

Whether it is a pleasure garden, a vegetable garden, a secret garden or a Garden of Eden, this theme has always inspired many poets and musicians.

Initially composed to accompany feasts and banquets, the works in this program are drawn from the French polyphonic repertoire of the Renaissance and the popular tradition.

Come and stroll through the gardens of France in music!
